Every Decoration Tells A Story: Fondly Remembering Christmas Past Through Decorations And A Christmas Decoration Giveaway

I love Christmas decorations and especially tree decorations but I am not one of those people with an immaculate colour-themed, Instagram-ready tree. My decorations are all shapes, sizes, colours and materials but I love their wonderful hotchpotch and the memories they hold. Every year, I enjoy getting them out, and hanging each one up as I remember their stories.

The Kids’ Homemade Offerings

They may not be the most beautiful but the children’s homemade decorations will always have a place on my tree. The salt dough, the pine cones dipped in glitter, the Hama beads and the lollipop stick offerings remind me of making them in previous years. We try to make one every year to add to the collection, and write the date on the back. On a side note, wrap salt dough in tissue paper not bubble wrap, as we had done go mouldy last year which was a shame. 

The Oldest OneThis little robin is the one that has been in my Christmas experience the longest- I used to love putting on my parents tree as a child so much that my mum gave it to me! The actual oldest chronologically are probably a set of little glass icicles that my step-nan gave to me as a teenager. 

The Inherited OnesThe lovely old lady that I bought my house from left a box of gorgeous knitted decorations when she moved out, little knitted snowmen and stockings; they are adorable! They kind of belong to the house so it’s lovely that could stay & spend more Christmas times here.

The Ones That Remind You Of Special Times
I danced to The Snowman theme tune at the Royal Albert Hall as a child for the bi-centennial of The Girl’s Brigade so my mum bought me a The Snowman ornament which always has pride of place on the tree.

The Ones That Remind You of People 

My best friend bought me this fluffy little angel so it always makes me think of her. The bell was a gift from my mum. 

The Ones That Mark Christmas Milestones 

The angel on the top of my tree was a gift from my mum for my first Xmas in my own home.

There will be one winner, receiving two tree decorations (as pictured). The prize is as stated and no alternatives can be offered.
